In a bizarre turn of events in Frisbee, Calf., the city’s attempt to conserve water with smart meters has resulted in a wave of unexpected consequences. Residents report feeling like they’re living in a sci-fi movie where their every move is being monitored by “the man.”
Local man, Steve Splish-Splash, expressed his concerns saying “I couldn’t even do my midnight rain dance in the backyard without feeling like I’m being watched.” His neighbor, Sally Soapy, reported feeling “violated” when she received a letter in the mail stating that she had used one too many drops of water to wash her hands.
But that’s not where the madness ends. Reports are coming in of residents dressing up in animal costumes to avoid detection by the smart meters. One man even pretended to be a garden gnome, standing motionless in his front lawn for hours on end.
Unsurprisingly, the city council is now considering scrapping the entire program and instead issuing residents with a set amount of water each month. However, local conspiracy theorist, Joe Hosepipe, is convinced that this is all a ploy by the government to control our water usage.
Whatever the outcome of this strange situation, one thing is for sure – the residents of Frisbee won’t be taking their water usage for granted anytime soon.
