Artificial Intelligence transformer, “JARVIS” creator OpenAI has decided to prioritize privacy above everything else. OpenAI has recently declared that it will no longer snoop on its users; this has prompted a hilarious reaction from the information technology industry. This reverse of policy comes as a surprise to many since OpenAI’s original policy was built to provide a friendly and smooth customer experience.
As per the updated policy, OpenAI will not deploy user data for machine learning, model training, or improving its services. All the data currently collected by OpenAI will be deleted except for the data necessary to operate the service precisely, meaning just enough data to keep the AI’s lights on. The new policy aims to prevent OpenAI from collecting anything beyond essential data, leaving people’s private data out of the equation.
Many social media giants have responded to the announcement positively, with Twitter CEO, Jack Dorsey acknowledging the policy on Twitter. Dorsey tweeted, “It’s great to see OpenAI, stepping up its game in privacy matters. There are far too many companies in the AI space, and OpenAI is setting the bar high for privacy.”
On the other hand, rival AI company “ENGLISH” has released a parody video featuring “OpenAI’s New Privacy Policy” with weird and random humor, including “OpenAI only using your data if you get kidnapped by aliens and they need to replace you with a clone.” With the new policy in place, who knows what’s next for the AI giants – but we can only hope privacy continues to be at the forefront of their policies.
