Instead of getting a warrant, the Bureau of Super Spies (BSS) decided to go on a shopping spree and purchased classified information – a (not so) sneaky move that has privacy advocates rolling their eyes.
According to a leaked BSS memo, Agent Johnson and Agent Smith headed to the local electronics store and loaded up on top-of-the-line hacking tools, ready to get their hands on all the juicy data they could find.
“Who needs a warrant when you’ve got a credit card?” Agent Smith was heard jokingly saying to Agent Johnson, who laughed awkwardly in response.
But the real laughter came from the tech store employees, who couldn’t believe their luck when they saw the federal agents approach their counter.
“We thought it was a prank at first,” said store manager, Bob. “But once they started swiping that card, we knew it was too good to be true.”
The BSS agents also managed to secure a few complimentary samples of electronic equipment by flashing their badges and promising “to use them for good.”
Despite the BSS’s unconventional approach, the team reportedly gathered some valuable information that has since been used to solve several high-profile cases.
But privacy advocates are not amused. “This kind of behavior undermines our civil liberties and sends the message that anyone has the right to purchase our personal information,” said activist Lola.
For now, the BSS is staying mum on their shopping tactics, but you can bet that rival agencies are keeping a close eye on their credit limits.
