Local Man Restores Ocean’s Lush Beds From Garage
Lancing, West Sussex – Steve Ballnutt has taken on the task of restoring the ocean’s kelp forests from the comfort of his garage. With lush beds disappearing from the local waters over the years, Ballnutt decided to take matters into his own hands.
“It’s really quite simple,” said Ballnutt, proudly gesturing to the 20-odd tanks full of algae. “I just mimic the atmosphere of the natural ocean conditions. It’s like a winter’s day in here.”
Ballnutt’s garage is set up with precise lighting and temperatures to ensure the kelp thrives. In fact, he’s so dedicated to his project that he’s willing to wear sunglasses in the summer months to mimic the seasonal sun exposure.
Passersby have reported seeing Ballnutt huddled in his garage, shivering in the crisp air, and fishing out bits of kelp to inspect under his microscope. He’s even been spotted donning a full wetsuit to really get in the zone.
“You never know when you might need to jump into action,” Ballnutt explained. “But so far, everything’s under control.”
It’s clear that Ballnutt is passionate about his project, but locals are beginning to wonder if he’s taken his love for the ocean a tad too far.
“I mean, it’s great that he’s trying to restore the kelp forests,” said one neighbor, “but I think he forgot that we actually have an ocean nearby.”
Despite the skepticism, Ballnutt remains unfazed, confident that his garage sanctuary will make all the difference in restoring the ocean’s lush beds.
“All I need is a little patience, a lot of love for the kelp, and maybe a few more tanks,” Ballnutt said with a grin. “Who knows, maybe one day my garage will be the next great ocean wonder.”
