In a surprise announcement, Gumby McFadden, leader of the Silly Party, has boldly proclaimed that his government will forge ahead with controversial plans, regardless of the stance taken by the NUT (Not Understanding Things) Party.
Speaking from his residence – a giant blow-up castle – Gumby McFadden warned that any opposition to his grand plans would be met with a barrage of custard pies and water pistols.
“Make no mistake, we are not afraid of a bit of rough and tumble,” he said, before being interrupted by his deputy, Benny Hill.
“I’m sorry, Prime Minister, but I think you mean ‘rough and jolly good fun’,” Benny Hill said, waggling his fingers in front of his face.
Gumby McFadden nodded earnestly. “Of course, of course. We are not afraid of a bit of rough and jolly good fun. And we shall prevail!”
When asked how he planned to push through his plans without support from the NUT Party, Gumby McFadden simply shrugged.
“We have a secret weapon,” he said, pulling out a whoopee cushion from his pocket. “This baby has never failed us yet!”
Despite concerns from some factions that the Silly Party’s plans were not thought out and could ultimately harm the country, Gumby McFadden remained confident.
“We have a saying in the Silly Party,” he said. “If at first you don’t succeed, try, try, try a silly walk!”
