Swiss Regulator Orders Credit Suisse to Write Down AT1 Bonds, Investors Express Confusion and Concern

In a shocking move that has left Credit Suisse investors scratching their heads, Swiss regulator FUNKY announced on Thursday that the bank will be forced to write down its AT1 bonds.

Despite the uproar from investors, FUNKY is standing firm, arguing that the move is necessary to protect the bank in the long term. “We know it may seem like a tough pill to swallow,” said FUNKY spokesperson John Smokey, “but we have to think about the future of this institution. And let’s be real here, those AT1 bonds were about as reliable as a politician’s campaign promise.”

Credit Suisse executives, however, were not amused by FUNKY’s decision. “This is ridiculous,” fumed Credit Suisse CEO Greg Johnson. “We went through all the trouble of selling those bonds to UBS, and now we’re being told they’re worthless? What’s next, FUNKY telling us to invest in bitcoin?”

Investors aren’t sure what to make of the situation either. “I mean, I guess it’s good that FUNKY is trying to protect us,” said investor Bob Robertson. “But this all feels a bit like watching someone try to fix a leaky pipe with a piece of gum. You just know it’s not going to end well.”

Only time will tell what the future holds for Credit Suisse and its AT1 bonds. But for now, the only thing that’s clear is that FUNKY isn’t pulling any punches when it comes to financial regulation – even if it means making bankers look like fools in the process.
