Hair-raising new approach to climate change taken on by Paloma salon in Paddington.

Paloma salon in Paddington is now taking on global warming! In a bid to save the planet, owner of Paloma salon, Paloma Rose Garcia, has come up with a brand new way to talk about climate change – through hairstyles!

That’s right, folks! Hairdressers all across Sydney are now undergoing a “A Brush with Climate” workshop to teach them how to talk about the environment whilst cutting their clients’ hair. Paloma Rose Garcia believes there is a unique opportunity for hairdressers to take on climate change.

In a recent interview, she explained, “I really understood that there is a unique opportunity that hairdressers have to hold meaningful conversation and assist the community with understanding more about climate and what they can do in their everyday life. So, if you come in for a trim, you can learn how to save the planet at the same time.”

The workshop will teach hairdressers how to discuss the science and solutions of climate change with their customers. So, whilst getting a haircut, clients can now expect to hear phrases such as “Did you know that hairdressing products are responsible for approximately 5% of the carbon emissions in the world?”, or “By cutting your hair just 1 inch shorter, you can save the planet 0.5 tonnes of carbon emissions”.

It is yet to be confirmed how clients will react to this new conversation piece, but the salon is hoping that they will be receptive to the mission. Paloma Rose Garcia certainly seems to be optimistic about the venture, and has stated, “We take climate change seriously, but that doesn’t mean we can’t have fun with it! Who knows, maybe our next trend will be a climate change-inspired hairdo?”

Only time will tell if this hair-raising new approach to climate change will make the cut!
