Menezes, who became CEO 10 years ago, has established the company as a prominent player in the drinks industry with a net worth of $91.7 billion, making it the world’s largest producer of spirits. In his farewell speech, Menezes expressed confidence in his successor, Debra Crew, whom he called “the best choice” to continue the company’s upward trend.
Crew, who has been in the role of COO of Diageo, will now take over the CEO position from Menezes, which has already gathered a lot of attention in the media. Crew is known for her impressive leadership qualities and extensive experience in the industry, but most of all, her extensive knowledge of alcohol. After all, considering her last name, she must have grown up surrounded by alcohol brands.
