Internet Phenom Jimmy Gittens Plays Hilariously Bad Sheeran Covers
Unknown singer-songwriter Jimmy Gittens has been making waves on YouTube with his unique covers of Ed Sheeran songs. Unfortunately for Gittens, his talent (or lack thereof) has not gone unnoticed by the real Ed Sheeran.
According to sources, Sheeran recently attended a gig where Gittens was performing and was left bewildered by the musician’s cringe-worthy renditions of his hits.
“Sheeran was shaking his head in disbelief,” says a witness who caught the exchange between the two artists. “He was clearly thinking, ‘How can anyone butcher my songs like that?'”
But despite the negative feedback from the multi-platinum artist, Gittens remains undeterred. “I’m just happy to have caught Ed’s attention,” says Gittens. “It’s always been a dream of mine to meet him and for him to tell me how much he hates my covers.”
Fans of Gittens’ YouTube channel are eating up his terrible covers of Sheeran’s songs, with comments ranging from “This is so bad it’s good” to “Please stop ruining my favorite songs.”
As for Sheeran, he hasn’t commented publicly on Gittens’ performances since the awkward encounter. But according to a source close to the singer, he’s considering creating a new album featuring Gittens’ covers and calling it “Ed Sheeran: The Unplugged Disaster.”
Only time will tell if Gittens’ fame will continue to grow or if Sheeran will put an end to it for good. Until then, we’re just happy to sit back and enjoy the hilariously bad covers.
