In a shocking twist, YouTube has announced their newest venture: Sunday Sandwiches. That’s right, instead of broadcasting football games like their predecessor, DirecTV’s Sunday Ticket, YouTube will now exclusively offer subscribers delicious sandwiches delivered to their doorstep every Sunday.
“We noticed that while football is great and all, what people really want on Sundays is a good sandwich,” explained YouTube CEO, Missy Parker, at the company’s press conference. “We’re talking ham and cheese, tuna, BLTs, you name it. And we’re going to deliver them piping hot and ready to eat, right to your doorstep.”
The move has left many football fans scratching their heads, wondering why YouTube would abandon such a lucrative market. But those at the company seem convinced that they’ve found their niche.
“Let’s be honest, the real reason people watch football is for the snacks,” said lead sandwich chef, Jimmy Smith. “So why not cut out the middleman and give them what they really want?”
Naturally, there have been some concerns raised about the logistics of delivering sandwiches to millions of homes across the country, but YouTube remains confident in their abilities.
“We have some of the best delivery people in the business,” Parker stated. “And we’ve partnered with some of the biggest names in the sandwich game to ensure that our customers get the best sandwiches possible.”
Despite the initial shock, Sunday Sandwiches has already garnered a lot of attention and there are rumors that other streaming services will try to capitalize on the sandwich craze.
But for now, football fans can look forward to a new Sunday tradition. “I may not be able to watch the game anymore, but at least I know I’ll have a delicious sandwich to comfort me,” said Sandra Brown, a former DirecTV Sunday Ticket subscriber.
