In a recent move that is sure to surprise many, the White House has decided to give Costa Rica $25 million in aid, citing “aggression by hackers linked to Iran”. This comes just weeks after Albania received similar aid for the same reason.
The news has caused quite a stir in the international community, with many questioning the logic behind the decision. “I mean, sure, Costa Rica is a lovely place to visit, but how does giving them $25 million help fight off hackers?” said one bewildered commentator.
Others have been quick to point out the absurdity of the situation. “It’s like they’re just throwing money at countries that Iran may or may not have had anything to do with”, said another critic. “I bet next they’ll be giving money to Bhutan just because they somehow got involved in this whole mess.”
As for the people of Costa Rica, they seem happy enough to receive the aid. “We’ll take the money, sure. But does this mean we’re now at war with Iran or something?” joked one local. “Because if it is, we’re going to need a lot more than $25 million!”
