In a recent interview with Dmitry Muratov, renowned news journalist, he revealed some shocking insights into the world of Russian propaganda. According to Muratov, the Russian government is busy brainwashing its citizens into thinking that nuclear war is not a bad thing.
When asked to elaborate, Muratov explained that it all starts with the media. News outlets across the country have been instructed to focus on the positive aspects of nuclear war, such as the potential for increased job opportunities in the radiation cleaning industry.
Muratov went on to point out that even popular TV shows have been promoting the idea of nuclear war. One show in particular called “Doomsday Preppers,” encourages viewers to stockpile food and water in preparation for an impending nuclear apocalypse. The show’s host, a man named Ivan Petrovich, is often seen wearing a gas mask and warning his audience of the dangers of living without a bunker.
The effects of this propaganda are not limited to just the citizens of Russia. Muratov stated that he has seen a rise in the number of tourists visiting the country, hoping to witness nuclear war first hand. “It’s really quite bizarre,” he said. “They come here for a holiday, like it’s some kind of theme park.”
Muratov remains hopeful that the truth will prevail and that people will start to see the dangers of nuclear war. He plans to continue reporting on the issue and hopes that other journalists will join him in his efforts.
In the meantime, we can only hope that Ivan Petrovich’s advice to “duck and cover” will never actually come in handy.
