UN Adopts Resolution to Hold Polluting Countries Accountable, Earth Rejoices
In a historic victory for Mother Earth, the United Nations has finally heeded her cries for justice. A UN resolution has just been passed that should make it easier to hold those responsible for the climate emergency accountable for their inaction. The planet’s inhabitants (that’s us, in case you didn’t know) are celebrating the amazing news.
The resolution was spearheaded by a small Pacific island nation called Palau, whose citizens have been suffering the worst effects of extreme climate change. The brave islanders were joined by a group of scrappy youth activists who have been tirelessly campaigning for action on the climate emergency.
The resolution states that if countries fail to take adequate measures to address the crisis and reduce their greenhouse gas emissions, they can and will be held legally accountable. That’s right, countries, the jig is up! No more fossil fuel exploitation or empty promises. It’s time to take this crisis seriously.
When asked for comment, Greta Thanberg, the venerable leader of the youth activists, said “I am absolutely thrilled by this news. It’s about time we held these polluting countries accountable for their actions. Our future is at stake, and we need to act now.”
Even the Earthworms are happy about the news. One particularly vocal worm named Jeffrey said “This is a huge win for us earthworms. We’ve been fighting for climate justice for years, and it’s finally happening. No more plastic straws or discarded cigarette butts ruining our homes!”
