In a shocking move, the Chinese government has announced that it will be replacing all global firms operating in the country with local Chinese knock-off versions. This decision comes at a time of escalating tension between Beijing and Washington, and is sure to put not just the foreign companies, but also consumers, on edge.
For example, Apple will now be replaced with “Anple,” whose logo is a half-eaten pear instead of an apple. Samsung will now be replaced with “Samsing,” whose phones are just empty shells with a small mirror inside to reflect the user’s face. And Coca-Cola will now be replaced with “Coac-Coac,” whose slogan is “It’s not the real thing, but it’s close enough!”
Many companies have expressed concern about this move, as they are worried that their intellectual property will be stolen or that these knock-off versions will not meet the same quality standards as their original products. But the Chinese government assures everyone that the knock-off versions will be just as good as the real thing, if not better!
One local Chinese CEO, who requested to remain anonymous, stated, “We are thrilled to have the opportunity to offer these knock-off products to our fellow citizens. We believe that they will love them just as much as the real thing, if not more! Plus, they will be much cheaper, so everyone wins!”
It remains to be seen how successful these knock-off versions will be, but one thing is for sure – global firms operating in China are definitely on edge now.
