In a bizarre turn of events, a second jury has been presented with a case after the original damages award was reduced by a judge. The case, which involves a man named Bob suing a company for damages after slipping on a banana peel, has become somewhat of a joke in the legal community.
As the trial began, it became immediately clear that the new jury was less than enthusiastic about being there. “Can we just get this over with?” one juror, named Chad, muttered under his breath.
The judge attempted to keep the proceedings moving along, but the jury simply couldn’t keep a straight face as Bob took the stand to recount his harrowing experience. “I was walking down the aisle when I saw it,” Bob said dramatically. “The banana peel. I slipped and fell and my life was never the same.”
At this point, the jury erupted into giggles, prompting the judge to sternly remind them that they were in a court of law. But it was too late – the mood had been set and there was no going back.
When it was the company’s turn to present their case, their lawyer, a man named Doug, tried to keep things serious. “My client takes safety very seriously,” Doug said gravely. “We would never intentionally leave a banana peel lying around.”
But the jury wasn’t buying it. “Sure,” one juror, named Janelle, said sarcastically. “And I suppose next you’ll tell us that unicorns are real.”
As the trial drew to a close, the jury deliberated for all of five minutes before deciding in favor of the company. “We just couldn’t take it seriously,” Chad said with a shrug. “The whole thing was bananas.”
