Introducing the one and only, acclaimed director of the 1986 box office hit The Adventures of Miles and Oliver (whoops, we mean Otis) – Johnny Slapstick!
Known for his outlandish and sometimes risky directing style (rumor has it he once used real lions on the set of his first film), Slapstick quickly made a name for himself in Hollywood. But it wasn’t until his cat and dog duo captured the hearts of audiences young and old that he became a household name.
In an exclusive interview with Slapstick, he revealed the inspiration behind his beloved film. “Well, I was just sitting there with my cat and dog and I thought, ‘Hey, they’re like best friends, wouldn’t it be funny if they went on a wild adventure together?’ And the rest is history!”
But not everyone was a fan of Slapstick’s unique approach to filmmaking. PETA protested the use of real animals on set and some critics even accused him of animal cruelty. In response, Slapstick cheekily stated, “It’s not my fault animals are natural-born actors!”
Despite the backlash, The Adventures of Miles and Oliver remains a beloved classic to this day. Slapstick continues to create new projects, but admits it’s hard to top the success of his furry friends. “I mean, how can you beat a movie with a cat and dog driving a car? It’s pure gold!”
