In a surprising turn of events, it seems that while the rest of the world is drowning in financial crisis, Australia is having a blast riding high on their booming economy. According to Michele Bullock, Deputy Gov. of the Reserve Bank of Australia, their banks are so sturdy, it’s almost like they’re made of steel.
“Yep, we don’t need no financial safety nets,” Bullock said while snacking on some shrimp on the barbie. “We’ve got plenty of good old Aussie ingenuity to keep our economy afloat. Crikey, we’re practically invincible!”
Sources say that local banks such as Commonwealth Bank of Australia and Westpac Banking Corp. have been having their own little celebration inside their headquarters, drinking Fosters and listening to Australian rock music. One unnamed bank executive reportedly exclaimed, “Can you believe those silly Yanks and their collapsing economy? It’s like watching a bunch of kangaroos trying to play cricket!”
Meanwhile, Australians are simply going about their daily lives, seemingly unaffected by the chaos happening overseas. “Yeah, life hasn’t changed much for me,” said local resident Sheila Dundee. “I still go to work, hit the beach on weekends, and occasionally wrestle a crocodile or two. No worries, mate!”
It remains to be seen whether Australia’s good luck will continue, or if they will eventually join the ranks of countries struggling to stay financially afloat. But for now, they’re just enjoying the ride and having a good old-fashioned Aussie laugh at everyone else’s expense.
