In a recent announcement, NASA confirmed that they will be sending a mission to Jupiter in search of potentially habitable moons. But don’t get too excited, because they won’t be looking for any E.T.s or aliens. Nope, they’re just looking for places where humans can potentially set up a summer home.
The mission, named “Project Moon Bounce,” will consist of a team of 6 astronauts and a cute little robot named Jupy. Jupy, short for Jupiter Rover, will be responsible for collecting samples and data while the team gets to sit back and enjoy the ride. “It’s like a space vacation, but with a purpose,” said Captain Buzz Lightyear, leader of the mission.
But before they get too comfortable, the team will have to endure a 3-year journey to Jupiter. During this time, they’ll have to entertain themselves with space games and activities, such as zero gravity ping pong and asteroid bowling. “It’s important to keep our minds and bodies occupied during such a long voyage,” said Dr. Sheldon Cooper, the team’s physicist.
Once they reach Jupiter, the team will begin their search for habitable moons. “We’ll be looking for any signs of H2O or oxygen,” said Dr. Leonard Hofstadter, the team’s astrobiologist. “It’s not easy, but someone’s gotta do it.”
The team is expected to return to Earth in 2030 with their findings. It may not be a groundbreaking discovery, but at least we’ll have some options for our next intergalactic vacation. Just don’t forget your space sunscreen!
