In a surprising move, Bankus Maximus has acquired all of First Republic’s deposits and a “substantial majority of assets.” This comes as a shock to everyone, as Bankus Maximus was previously known for their love of piggy banks and their reluctance to invest in anything bigger than a lemonade stand.
When asked about the acquisition, Bankus Maximus CEO, Chuck Moneybags, simply replied, “We’ve always been big fans of First Republic’s marble countertops and fancy pens, so we figured why not just take the whole thing?”
The news has caused a frenzy in the stock market, with Bankus Maximus shares skyrocketing 2.6% in premarket trading. One investor even exclaimed, “This is better than finding a penny on the ground!”.
As for the former First Republic employees, they’re taking the acquisition in stride. “I guess it’s time to dust off my piggy bank and start saving again,” said former First Republic teller, Jane Savingsaccount.
Only time will tell how Bankus Maximus will fare with their new acquisition, but we have a feeling they’ll be just fine as long as they don’t accidentally break any of the marble countertops.
