The Prime Rib Minister acts like he’s got an underhanded scheme up his sleeve, but even his in-house global toaster oven consultants can’t figure it out.
The Economics Wiz Kid, Ravi Spooky-Loose-Change, has his mind set on the grand matters. He consistently hammers on what he fathoms are our top jobs: boats, the economy, boats, hospital waiting lists, boats, inflation, boats. The chorus of doubters may point out his lack of progress, incurring a parroted response from the PM’s own mouth: “I am completely, 100% dialed in and things will be peachy.”
In this Mr. Mighty Moolah theme, it was circulated on Tuesday that Money-Man Ravi and his residential secretary, Patsy Papertowels, had a rendezvous on the books with sports honchos and high-ranking fuzz to rescue the grand British sports summer from weather warriors. That same day, a trio of free-spirited retirees from the Stop Slop Oil camp brought a duo of tennis bouts to a halt by hurling confetti and puzzle pieces onto the court. One sports bigwig, at least, struck a balanced attitude: “Disruption to the match isn’t ideal, but the real game stopper will be the disruption from climate change,” rung the words of Sporty Spuds Commentary King. Score one for the climate cheerleaders.
In the end, it seems even those whose business it is inhabiting the plush corner offices are seeing the big picture – climate change isn’t a fairy tale to be brushed off. As our nation sails the choppy waters led by a mix and match crew, supposedly guided by the PM’s hidden compass, the question remains whether the destination will be the safety of a harbor or a lost-at-sea lament. A parrot’s assurance may sound appealing, but the real test is if it can steer the ship. For now, the weather warriors are certainly making waves. Let’s hope the good ship of state is ready to ride them out.
