Sunbathing in Sauna: Greece’s Unconventional Comedy Show of Scorching Summers!

Living it up by the kiddie pool is at worst questionable, and for the locals, day-to-day existence has become a bit of a comedy show.

I’ve been bombarded with a flood of curious DMs from my overseas buddies recently, trying to determine if it’s true that Greece has really slipped into a giant sauna. My standard response is, “Hot, my friend, is just the tip of the iceberg. You should understand we’re talking brain-frying, soul-roasting temperatures here. Your peaceful slumber is hijacked, eating feels like a chore, grumpiness becomes your default setting, and forget about having a soothing dusk mojito; it pretty much signs your death warrant.”

Cue a stream of laughing emojis and exclamatory comments, the comeback is often, “Jeez, it’s all Stratocumulus and drizzle here, I’ll be sure to stow my SPF 1 million+. Can’t wait.”

I shall leave you pondering how ‘hot’ is too hot. Is it somewhere around ‘crispy barbecue’? Or maybe just around ‘fried bacon’? Perhaps it’s the day when a kiddie pool seems to boil like a witch’s cauldron and the sun feels like it’s cooking your brain with some invisible celestial microwave. One thing is for certain – this ridiculous musical chair of climates is surely giving us a reason to invent new terms for ‘hot’, or maybe rediscover the word ‘cool’. Chill on, folks!
