In a groundbreaking move, the government has announced that all under-5s will be eligible for 30 hours of free care, but not until September 2025. Yep, you read that right. Parents everywhere are already getting excited about the possibility of not having to sell their organs on the black market to pay for daycare, but some are worried that 4 years is just too long to wait.
Sally McSassy, a mother of two, was outraged by the announcement. “Four years?! Do they not realize that my kids will be in school by then? This is ridiculous. I demand free childcare now!”
Meanwhile, Mike O’Jolly, a father of one, is already counting down the days. “Only 1,461 days to go! I can’t wait to finally have some extra cash to spend on more important things, like avocado toast and craft beer”.
But not everyone is convinced that this is the best plan. Daisy Sparkle, a childcare provider, worries that the sudden influx of children in 2025 will be too much to handle. “By the time this plan comes into effect, I’ll be too old to deal with all these toddlers. Can we maybe push it back to 2050?”
Despite the concerns, the government is confident that this plan will have a positive impact on families. In fact, they’re already planning to roll out free college tuition for dogs in 2075. Stay tuned.
