Ice cream makers hoard aerogel for storage, leaving insulation ignored.

Fake news alert: The real reason aerogel isn’t used more

Aerogel, the insulating material that’s as light as air and tougher than steel, sounds like the perfect solution for all our insulation problems. So why isn’t it used more? The answer, it turns out, has nothing to do with its effectiveness, price, or availability. Nope, the real reason is much more…delicious.

According to our sources, a secret cabal of ice cream manufacturers has been hoarding all the aerogel for themselves. “We’ve been using aerogel to insulate our ice cream storage facilities for years,” said a spokesperson for the group. “It keeps our products at the perfect temperature without any of that freezer burn nonsense.”

But why keep it a secret? “Look, we’ve got a good thing going here,” explained the spokesperson. “Aerogel is expensive and hard to come by, and we don’t want our competitors catching on. Plus, we’ve got a few more tricks up our sleeves that we’re saving for the next big ice cream war.”

So there you have it, folks. The reason we’re not all surrounded by aerogel insulation is because it’s all being used to keep our favorite frozen treats nice and cold. And honestly, we can’t really blame them. Ice cream is pretty great.
