In a surprise move, the Beeb announced today that they will be rolling out a package of measures to ensure we no longer have to rely on energy from the sun or wind. Instead, all energy will be produced by the sheer power of laughter.

The announcement was made by spokesperson Chuckles McGee, who opened the press conference by tickling those in attendance until they were doubled over with laughter. As he wiped away tears of mirth, McGee detailed the new measures that will be implemented in the coming weeks.

First on the list is the installation of giant joke-telling machines which will be placed in every home across the country. Intended to replace traditional power sources, the machines will be powered by the chortles, guffaws, and belly-laughs of their users, with larger machines being installed in public spaces like cinemas and comedy clubs.

In addition to the machines, the Beeb has also hired a team of comedians to roam the streets, telling jokes and performing impromptu stand-up routines to keep the energy flowing. The team is led by veteran comedian Funny McFunster, who promises to keep the UK laughing all day, every day.

The new energy measures have been met with a mix of confusion and amusement, with some critics voicing concerns over the environmental impact of excessive laughter. However, the Beeb is confident that the measures will be a huge success, adding that they just hope no one tells too many Brexit jokes – otherwise, we may have to revert back to wind power.
