Meet Freddy McPoetry, the spoken word educator who uses the power of dad jokes to inspire pupils.
As he scurries down the hallways of Jefferson Middle School, Freddy can’t help but let out a chuckle when he hears a student muttering to themselves, “What do you call cheese that isn’t yours? Nacho cheese!” This is his cue, and he busts into the classroom with a grin, slamming his fists on the desk.
“Good morning, my fellow poets! I hope you’re all muuuuusing well today!”
The students stare at him, confused. One timid voice whispers, “Who are you?”
“I am Freddy McPoetry, and I am here to entertain and educate you with the finest dad jokes and puns this side of the Mississippi!”
The rest of the period is filled with groans and giggles as Freddy weaves together jokes about fish, potatoes, and even the dreaded dad sneeze. He even manages to slip in a reference to Shakespeare, causing one particularly studious student to groan, “Ugh, we get it already, you’re clever.”
But to Freddy, it’s all worth it when the students leave the room chanting, “Two fish were in a tank. One says to the other, ‘How do you drive this thing?’”
