The USA government has just released a new bill intended to give parents the power to access their children’s online private messages. The bill, named the “Parental Invasive Access to Online Messages Act” or PIAM for short, is said to be taking the internet by storm.
In an exclusive interview with Mr. Banana, the head of the PIAM committee, he stated “We feel that parents should be able to monitor their children’s online activity at all times. By giving them access to their private messages, it will be easier for parents to spot any risky or concerning behavior.”
However, not everyone is happy with this new bill. Mrs. Pinecone, a parent of three, expressed her concerns, saying “This is complete invasion of privacy! I trust my children, and I don’t need the government to tell me to monitor them.”
On the other hand, Mr. Peppermint, a father of two, is thrilled at the new bill. He exclaimed, “Finally, I’ll be able to see what my kids are really up to. No more secrets!”
Meanwhile, social media companies are scrambling to figure out how to accommodate PIAM. Some are even considering creating a new feature that immediately alerts parents the minute their child types the word “marijuana” or “sex.”
Only time will tell how PIAM will truly affect parents and their children’s relationships. One thing is for certain, though: online messaging apps just got a whole lot less secret.
