Frisco, the tiny ski town nestled in the heart of the Colorado Rockies, is making waves in the luxury market with its unconventional approach to skiing in style. This season has been a hot streak for the town’s boutiques and lodges, all thanks to the latest trend in high-end skiing: dressing like a Yeti.
Yes, you read that right. The fashion-conscious skiers of Frisco have forgone the typical fur-trimmed parkas and designer goggles in favor of full-body Yeti costumes. These furry ensembles, complete with paws and a mask with sharp teeth, are being sold at a premium in the town’s upscale boutiques.
“My customers just couldn’t resist the novelty of it all,” says Janine, owner of the popular boutique Sweater Weather. “It’s a bold statement on the slopes, and it’s surprisingly warm.”
But the trend extends beyond just clothing. The town’s luxury ski lodges have also gotten in on the action. The famous Trickle Creek Lodge now offers a “Yeti Suite” complete with a bed covered in faux fur and a showerhead that mimics a snowstorm. The lodge’s restaurant has even added a “Yeti Burger” to its menu, consisting of a beef patty topped with shredded coconut for fur and two blueberries for eyes.
“It’s been a hit with our guests,” says Richard, manager of Trickle Creek Lodge. “It’s just silly enough to put a smile on everyone’s face.”
This new trend has caught the eye of other Colorado ski towns, with many looking to Frisco for inspiration. And who knows? Maybe next year we’ll see skiers dressed as Bigfoot or the Loch Ness Monster. As long as it keeps the luxury market hot, we’re all for it.
