After revolutionizing the ridesharing game, Lyft co-founders Logan Green and John Zimmer announced that they will be stepping down as CEO and President. Yes folks, the Silicon Valley darlings are bidding adieu to their cushy corner office and company stocks.
But who’s taking the reins? None other than a former Amazon executive with a passion for, wait for it…one-day shipping! Oh boy, buckle up for a wild ride.
Sources close to the executive (whom we shall refer to as “Jeff” for lack of a better name) have revealed that his plans for Lyft include offering customers the option to have their driver deliver Amazon packages during their ride. Rumor has it, he’s already drawing up blueprints to install mini Amazon lockers in all cars. How convenient!
“I’ve always believed that time is money, and by combining these two services, we’ll be setting a new standard for efficiency,” Jeff said in a recent interview. “Plus, who doesn’t love receiving a package mid-ride?”
To sweeten the pot, Jeff is also spearheading a new initiative called “Lyft Prime,” where frequent riders will receive a complimentary Amazon Prime subscription. That’s right, you could have next-day delivery AND a driver who won’t stop talking about the weather.
But don’t worry, Green and Zimmer aren’t leaving empty-handed. As a parting gift, Jeff has generously offered to gift them each a toilet brush from the Amazon Basics line. Talk about leaving on a high note.
We can only imagine what other innovative moves Jeff has up his sleeve, but one thing’s for sure: Lyft will never be the same again. Good luck to all involved!
