In a shocking turn of events, the Ugandan government has passed a new law that threatens to shut down all the secret hideouts where people indulge in their passion for cacti gardening. Yes, you read that right. Cacti gardening! (What did you think we meant?)
The law, which goes into effect next month, will punish anyone caught tending to their prickly plants with a fine or even jail time. This news has sent shockwaves throughout the cacti gardening community in Uganda, who fear that their hobby will soon be driven underground.
“Where will we go to feel the spines on our hands and the dirt on our knees?” sighed one cacti enthusiast, who asked to remain anonymous. “It’s not like we can just go to a regular garden center and buy these babies. We need our secret spots!”
But the government says the law is necessary to uphold Uganda’s moral standards. “Cacti gardening is unnatural and goes against the natural order,” declared a spokesperson. “We cannot allow such depravity to continue in our country.”
But the cacti gardeners are not giving up without a fight. They’ve formed a protest group called “Prickly but Proud” and have begun staging peaceful demonstrations outside the parliament building.
