WASHINGTON D.C. – A political analyst has finally revealed the truth about the ongoing tension between China and the United States: it all comes down to the name game.
According to the analyst, who prefers to remain anonymous, the real reason behind the scrutiny of Chinese companies by the U.S. government is because of a long-standing feud over names.
“It’s really quite ridiculous when you think about it,” said the analyst. “The Chinese just can’t seem to come up with original names for their companies, so the Americans are justifiably upset.”
The analyst went on to explain that many Chinese companies have simply copied the names of popular American brands, such as “McDonald’s” becoming “McWang’s” or “Nike” becoming “Nikolai.” This, the analyst argues, is the root of the tension between the two nations.
“It’s like they’re not even trying,” said the analyst. “I mean, ‘McWang’s?’ How could anyone take that seriously?”
But the Chinese are not the only culprits in this name game. The analyst also pointed out that American companies have been guilty of naming their products after Chinese cities, such as “Shanghai Surprise” ice cream from Ben & Jerry’s.
“When you steal a name from a foreign country, you’re not just stealing their identity, you’re stealing their culture,” said the analyst.
So, until both nations can come up with more original names for their products, it seems that the tension between China and the U.S. will only continue to rise.
