In a classic case of “Adidas Vs The Advocacy Group,” the German sportswear giant has taken legal action against the group’s brand new logo. Yes, you read that right. Apparently, Adidas thinks that a simple three-stripe design is too similar to their own iconic logo.
When asked for a comment, the CEO of Adidas, Hans von Sneaker, stated, “We take our brand identity very seriously. We cannot let anyone else have even a hint of similarity to our logo. It’s just not good for business.”
The Advocacy Group, on the other hand, seemed bemused by the whole situation. “We had no intention of copying Adidas,” said their spokesperson, Bianca Sole. “Our logo represents unity and solidarity, whereas theirs represents overpriced shoes.”
In response, Adidas has threatened to boycott any event or organization associated with the Advocacy Group if they don’t change their logo. In fact, they’ve even come up with a new hashtag – #NotCloseEnough – to promote their cause.
Only time will tell how this battle between a billion-dollar company and a small advocacy group will play out. But one thing’s for sure, we won’t be surprised if Adidas sues every barbershop in town for their three-stripe pole designs.
