Top officials from the Kingdom of Engleland have announced a bold plan to make electricity the cheapest commodity in all of Europe by 2050. This has been met with skepticism from some industry experts, who have dismissed the plan as nothing more than a “rehash” of previous failed initiatives.
Speaking on behalf of the government, Minister of Energy, Sir Humphrey Bogart, assured the public that this new plan is different, claiming that they will be using state-of-the-art technology and innovative strategies to make their goals a reality.
Critics, however, were quick to point out the ridiculousness of such a promise. “It’s like saying we’re going to make unicorns appear out of thin air,” scoffed economist Dr. Susan Bones. “Sure, it sounds great in theory, but it’s just not realistic.”
Despite the backlash, the government seems determined to make their mark in the energy sector. Minister of Finance, Mr. Johnny English, even went so far as to suggest that they would be willing to do “whatever it takes” to achieve their goal, including bribing electricity providers or inventing a time machine.
Only time will tell whether this ambitious plan will succeed or fall flat on its face. Until then, we can only sit back and watch as the government attempts to pull off what many would consider a Christmas miracle.
