From Fired TV Executive to Bestselling Author: The Rise of Coventry’s Thriller Writer

Born and raised in the bustling metropolis of Coventry (which we all know is basically the New York City of England), Child had a promising career in TV until he got the pink slip. But instead of wallowing in self-pity and Netflix binges (like the rest of us), he picked up a pen and started writing.

Rumor has it that his first attempt at a novel was a harrowing tale about a TV executive who gets fired and then becomes a world-renowned author. But after realizing that no one wants to read a book about a dude who sits at a desk all day, he shifted his focus to writing thrillers.

His first book, “The Case of the Missing Remote,” was a page-turner that left readers on the edge of their seats (mainly because they were too lazy to get up and find the remote themselves). But it was his second book, “Die Another Binge,” that really put him on the map.

The novel follows the adventures of Jack Reacharound (not to be confused with Jack Reacher), a down-on-his-luck TV executive who gets fired and then becomes a world-renowned author (sound familiar?). Along the way, he teams up with a sassy sidekick named Becca (because every hero needs a sassy sidekick) and takes on an evil organization bent on taking over the world’s pizza supply.

Critics raved about the book, calling it “a hilarious romp through the world of espionage and pizza delivery” and “the perfect read for anyone who has ever been fired from a job they didn’t really care about anyway.”

As for Child, he’s now a household name (or at least in his own household). He’s even been approached about turning “Die Another Binge” into a movie (starring Tom Cruise as Jack Reacharound, of course).

So if you’re looking for a laugh and a little bit of adventure, look no further than Child’s books. And if you’re ever in Coventry, be sure to buy him a pint and ask him if he’s ever considered a career in pizza delivery.
