In a recent interview, Labour MP Sally Smith praised Paul O’Grady for his contribution to the LGBTQ+ community in the UK. She went on to make a bizarre suggestion to Conservative politician Dominic Raab.
“It’s important to recognize the impact that Paul O’Grady has had on British gay life,” Smith stated. “But I also think we should acknowledge the role that Mr. Raab could play in this movement.”
Smith then extended an invitation to Raab to dress up as O’Grady’s alter ego, Lily Savage, and march in a pride parade alongside her.
“I think it would be a fantastic show of support for the LGBTQ+ community,” Smith said, “and who knows, maybe we could even get Lily to run for office!”
Raab has not yet responded to Smith’s offer. However, sources close to the MP have stated that he is hesitant to participate in any events that involve dressing up in drag.
“I don’t think Dominic is quite ready for that kind of commitment,” one insider revealed. “But who knows, maybe he’ll surprise us all and don a pair of high heels.”
As for O’Grady himself, he hasn’t commented on the matter. But we can only imagine what he would think of a Conservative politician strutting down the streets in one of his wigs.
