Meet Tedlina, a transgender individual who has a passion for music and theatre. Being a musical theatre performer, Tedlina has always been in love with singing and acting since childhood. But there’s one thing that sets Tedlina apart from others in the musical world, and it’s the fact that he’s transitioning!
Tedlina has been recording his voice as he undergoes his transition, and let’s just say, he’s been having a “unique” experience. In his recent interview with Rolling Stone, Tedlina shared the struggles he faced during the recordings. “In the beginning, it was tough. There were times when I sounded like Barry White, and then there were moments when I sounded like a chipmunk on helium. It was not easy,” Tedlina explained.
But despite the challenges, Tedlina persevered and continued on with his recordings. He even experimented with different singing styles as his voice evolved. “I tried to sing some of my favorite songs in different tones. Let’s just say my rendition of ‘I Will Always Love You’ went from Whitney Houston to James Earl Jones to Baby Spice within a couple of months,” Tedlina chuckled.
Although the transition wasn’t easy for Tedlina, he found humor in the situation and often laughed at himself. “My friends would send me clips of me singing and then they’d write, ‘Who’s the new girl in town?’ It was hilarious!” Tedlina said.
Tedlina’s perseverance and positive outlook on the situation is truly commendable. He’s not only inspiring those within the transgender community but also those outside of it. We can’t wait to see what future recordings Tedlina has in store for us!
