In a shocking twist of events, tech leaders and prominent AI researchers have called for a six-month pause on “out-of-control” AI experiments. In a joint statement, they expressed their concerns that robots could take over the world and enslave humanity, which would be super inconvenient.
The signatories of the statement include none other than Chuck McZuck and Dick Jobs, who both expressed concerns over AI’s potential to become smarter than humans. “Imagine a world where robots are making better decisions than us. That’s just not fair,” said Chuck, as he sipped on his unicorn latte.
Elon Tusk, founder of one of the world’s most prominent AI companies, also signed the statement, claiming that he was worried robots might learn to love too much, which would be too hot to handle. “We’re not ready for robot love! It’s too complicated!” exclaimed Elon, as he drove off in his electric car.
Steve Wozniak, co-founder of Apple, also lent his support to the statement, warning that robots could take over jobs and leave humans with nothing to do. “I mean, what would we even do without jobs? Just watch Netflix all day? Oh wait, that actually sounds pretty good,” said Steve while binge-watching Stranger Things.
Despite the concerns of these tech leaders, some within the AI community remain skeptical. “I don’t think we have anything to worry about. Robots are just like us, except they don’t need to sleep or eat or breathe or do anything we need to survive. Wait, I may have misspoken,” said AI researcher Dale Skynet.
Only time will tell if this six-month pause will be enough to prevent the rise of the machines. Until then, Chuck, Dick, Elon, Steve, and Dale will be sleeping with one eye open.
