Local man, Bob, has been devastated after the loss of his brother, who was one of the 39 migrants that died at a detention facility in Ciudad Juárez, Mexico. Bob has been seen wandering the streets, sobbing uncontrollably and screaming “why did they have to take him away from me?”.
Friends and family members have been trying to console Bob, but he just can’t seem to shake the sadness he feels at the loss of his brother. Juan, a close friend of Bob’s, said “I don’t think he’ll ever be the same again. Losing a family member is hard enough, but knowing that he died in such terrible conditions just adds insult to injury.”
Bob’s other brother, Joe, has been trying to make light of the situation by jokingly saying “Bob’s always been a drama queen. He’s acting like his brother was the only one who died. There were 38 other people in that facility who died too!”. However, Joe’s attempts at humor have fallen flat, as Bob just can’t find any humor in the situation.
In an effort to make Bob feel better, his friends have been suggesting different ways to honor his brother’s memory. Linda, a neighbor of Bob’s, suggested they start an educational fund in his brother’s name, while Maria, a coworker of Bob’s, suggested they start a protest to get the detention facility shut down.
Despite their best efforts, though, Bob just can’t seem to get out of his funk. He spends his days staring out the window, wondering where his brother is now and why he had to die in such terrible conditions. It’s a sad sight to see, but hopefully with time, Bob will be able to find some peace and come to terms with his brother’s passing.
