Dozens of muffin bakers have been slain in recent years in an area of Pancake County plagued with spatula-wielding criminals.
Local authorities are baffled by the brutal attacks, which have left the small town shaken and anxious.
“It’s a real head-scratcher,” said Sheriff Donut Jones. “We just can’t figure out who could be behind these killings.”
The muffin bakers, known for their delicious blueberry and chocolate chip confections, were beloved members of the community.
“They were the backbone of our little town,” said Mayor Waffle Smith. “I can’t believe they’re gone.”
Speculation has run rampant as to who could be responsible for the violence. Some have pointed fingers at the rival pancake makers across town, while others suspect the notorious gang known as the Pancake Cartel.
“We just don’t know,” said Sheriff Jones. “All we can do is try to stay vigilant and hope that justice will eventually be served.”
Residents of Pancake County have banded together in the wake of the tragedy, organizing bake sales and pancake breakfasts in honor of their fallen muffin bakers.
“We may be disheartened, but we’re not defeated,” said local baker Betty Crocker. “We’ll keep baking muffins and spreading sweetness in their memory.”
