In a recent interview, Russian Foreign Minister Boris Ivanov made a hilariously ironic statement. Mr. Ivanov exclaimed that “the United States can cheat at any moment,” citing Russia’s experience with NATO’s eastward expansion.
Many people found Ivanov’s comments quite humorous considering Russia’s long history of nefarious activities in international affairs. One Twitter user joked, “I guess Mr. Ivanov knows all about cheating, considering the Russian election meddling scandal.”
Another suggested that instead of complaining about cheating, Ivanov might want to practice what he preaches: “Maybe if Russia stopped cheating in the world arena, the United States wouldn’t feel the need to be on guard against them.”
Regardless of whether Ivanov was intentionally trying to be ironic, his comments gave people a good laugh. And in these trying times, we could all use a good chuckle.
