In a bizarre turn of events, Russian authorities have been caught off guard by their own air force in what can only be described as the ultimate oopsie. As if straight out of a comedy sketch, thousands of residents in a border city have had to be evacuated following an accidental attack from their own country’s air force.
According to witnesses, the planes were supposed to be on a top-secret mission to target enemy forces, but instead got a little too excited and unloaded their payload onto their own citizens. “The plane just kept flying towards us and we knew something was off when it started dropping bombs,” said a resident who wished to remain anonymous. “At first, we thought it was a joke, but when we realised it wasn’t, we knew we had to get out of there fast.”
Upon finding out about the incident, Russian authorities quickly sprang into action and began evacuating everyone in the affected area. “We are deeply sorry for the inconvenience caused,” said a spokesperson for the Russian military. “It was a complete accident and we are investigating how this could have happened.”
Residents of the border city, however, seem to be taking the incident in stride. “It’s not every day you get bombed by your own country’s air force,” joked one resident. “I guess we’ll just have to add this to our list of ‘things that only happen in Russia’.”
As for the pilots responsible, they have reportedly been grounded until further notice. “We don’t want to take any chances,” said the spokesperson. “It’s clear they need a bit more practice before they can go back up in the air.”
In the meantime, residents of the affected area are being advised to stay safe and keep an eye on the skies. “Who knows what could happen next!” added the anonymous resident with a chuckle.
