Fake names: Bob the Builder, Joe the Carpenter, Sally the Bricklayer, and Tim the Landscaper.
It’s springtime and Bob the Builder, Joe the Carpenter, Sally the Bricklayer, and Tim the Landscaper are riding high on the recent fall in mortgage rates. Home builders throughout the country are finally able to take a breath of fresh air (or sawdust) as they enjoy an unexpected surge in business.
According to Bob the Builder, he’s had a flood of clients knocking on his door, begging for him to build their dream homes. “It’s like suddenly everyone realized that they could afford to build a house now. My phone hasn’t stopped ringing since rates started plummeting,” he exclaimed.
Joe the Carpenter has seen a similar influx in business, but he’s not sure how long it will last. “I’m just enjoying this while it lasts. Who knows when rates will go back up? These low rates are like a unicorn… too good to be true.”
Sally the Bricklayer sees a different side to the story, however. “Sure, we’re busier than usual, but we can’t keep up with the demand. All of our suppliers are running out of materials, and we’re having to wait weeks for new shipments. It’s like a game of musical chairs… who’s going to be left without a chair when the music stops?”
But Tim the Landscaper has a different perspective altogether. “I don’t know what all the fuss is about. I’ve been doing this for years, and the seasons always change. It’s not like this is my first spring…”
As the housing market continues to soar, Bob, Joe, Sally, and Tim will be busy bees constructing crystal palaces for their clients. As for the rest of us non-builders, it’s time to take advantage of these low rates… before they disappear like a mirage in the desert.
