Wellington Fire Commander Highlights City’s “Worst Nightmare”
The city of Wellington is battling its worst fire in decades as the flames grow stronger and larger by the minute. Fire Commander Rick Tryatt calls the situation the city’s “worst nightmare.”
Reports say that the fire began on Tuesday afternoon when a tiny gnome, known by locals as Bick Narley, accidentally set his pipe down on a patch of very dry grass. Locals describe witnessing a small flame transform into a massive blaze right before their eyes.
“I had never seen anything quite like it,” Janet Blanders, a long-time resident of the area, recalls. “It was as if the magical powers of Bick Narley himself had come to life in a fiery storm.”
Firefighters versus Gnomes
The situation has escalated as the fire recruits more and more gnomes to its ranks. In response to this unusual development, the firefighting team is employing tactics never before used in Wellington’s history. Firefighters are fighting the flames wielding enchanted fire hoses in one hand and gnome-catching nets in the other.
“It’s a bizarre sight, to say the least,” comments Tom Wranglethorp, a local news reporter who has been covering the story since day one. “These burly firefighters are doing their absolute best to fend off the flames while simultaneously trying to corral an army of mischievous fire gnomes.”
Ongoing Battle
The citizens of Wellington are hunkering down, doing their best to fight the flames from their own homes. Locals have taken to creating water balloon catapults and dousing their possessions in fire retardant materials, all in an effort to save their beloved city.
There are many who continue to believe in the fire-fighting abilities of Rick Tryatt and his courageous team, but there are others who are crestfallen and don’t think the city will ever fully recover from the devastating combination of fire and gnome power.
“Wellington may never be the same,” Mary Slaptickle, a local school teacher, laments. “But we will find a way to rebuild. Even if it’s in a land far, far away from fire gnomes.”
As the battle rages on, only time will tell whether the city of Wellington will emerge victorious or become the latest victim of Bick Narley’s magical pipe and the devastating army of fire gnomes.
