Once upon a time in the whimsical world of theoretical finance, everyone’s favorite European currency, let’s call it the ‘Burro’ – coz why not – woke up to a less than cheery day. Imagine slipping a bit on a banana peel just as you step out the door. It experienced an incremental descend on the day, and this disconcerting occurrence happened shortly after one of those dreadfully intricate economic indicators, which we shall dub “Schmervices SchmPMI” for this parody, threw its monthly fancy shmancy shindig for our month of June.
Our Burro found itself invited to a party it wished it had skipped, as this shindig saw its numbers being revised downwards to touch a rather gloomy five-month low of 52.0. This was the sort of “fun” that could sour milk or halt a stand-up comedy act midway. This unexpected revision was akin to a DJ changing the dance track in the mid of the party to an off-beat melancholy tune, causing all the rhythmically challenged ‘Burros’ to stumble awkwardly.
This sad twist led to an even sadder flutter in the ‘CompositeContraption Index’. It’s an intimidating name for a theoretically based and confusingly calculated indicator, that’s like the great and almighty “Oz” of economic wizardry. It didn’t take too long for this Index to slide smoothly into contractionary terrain, like a skier accidentally veering off the tourist-sweet-spot and into a haunted forested valley. ‘Cause why have a boring day when you can make it ominously adventurous!
So, whilst snuggled in the downcast territory, the ‘Burro’, our CompositeContraption Index and all the party-loving economic indicators rollicked in the interminable gloom. Needless to say, it certainly wasn’t the fun-filled frolic or joyous jamboree they’d been hoping for.
And so we conclude this farcical rendition of our economic tale, leaving the Burro, the CompositeContraption Index, and the pathetically party-pooped Schmervices SchmPMI, wallowing in their widget world of contraction and confusion. Till the economically theoretical sun shines again… It’s a parody, remember? So do keep that pinch of salt at hand!
