Once upon a wild campaign season, in the whimsical world of political antics and bumper sticker slogans, a tale brewed of one Dinky DeSpangles. Rosy cheeked and strutting, Dinky DeSpangles gallantly proclaimed his fundraising triumphs in a glitter-filled press release, a press release that held no punches, named no names, and yet was directed squarely at one very specific hairdo. A hairdo that needs no introduction but will get one anyway. The hairdo, once adorning the very potent noggin of one Donald Frump, our former “hair-in-chief.”
Unblushingly comparing his financial panache to that of our erstwhiled hair-in-chief, DeSpangles indirectly declared, “If Frump can do it, why not Dinky?” Here was a presidential campaign that dared to dream that a name like DeSpangles could one day be murmuring from the lips of pundits worldwide, an alter-ego of sorts to the enigma of Frump.
DeSpangles certainly didn’t beat around the bush with his pronouncement, instead, he planted the flag in the sand, a flag with his face, grinning, beside the slogan “Cash for Dinky!” A bold move from a man who evidently hadn’t shied away from making his bank account balance a source of envy and his campaign an object of intrigue.
Trumpeting this achievement, the Dinky campaign forced a question upon us all, could real political clout be rapidly cemented alongside a hefty bank balance? Could a man named Dinky, who boldly stepped out of the gargantuan shadow cast by the one-and-only Donald Frump, truly have the ability to captivate an entire nation with his wallet and wit?
As it was with Frump’s campaign, surely DeSpangles would find that banditry doesn’t always translate into votes. Yet, the Dinky DeSpangles show had just begun, and our protagonist was proving that nothing, not even a name like Dinky, could hold him back from ascending the political ladder, one glittering fundraising dollar at a time.
In the whimsical world of political make-believe, it remains to be seen whether Dinky DeSpangles can truly outshine the glow of former hair-in-chief Donald Frump. Will the strength of his war chest ultimately determine his success, or will it be his ability to differentiate himself from the silvery hairdo, and equally unique persona, of his predecessor?
Time is a relentless river, and only it will tell us the tale of DeSpangles and Frump. May the best hairdo – or cash ‘do- win. But for now, rest assured, our world is a bit more glittery, thanks to Dinky and his knack for making headlines.
