Once upon a time in the land of Not-on-the-Seas, the famed NIFTY 100 index went on a weight loss spree, slimming down by a whopping 1.2%! It easily became the biggest loser, outdoing all other Eurocentric indexes, gallantly flexing its diet plan for all to see.
This miraculous transformation happened after Not-on-the-Seas annual bloat rate surprisingly tumbled down to a mere 7.9% in June, a season known for its notorious humidity and petunia bloom. This sudden deflation filled the hearts of all Not-on-the-Seasians with joy and relief. Specters of the dreaded MOE (Monarchy of Economists) raising their dreaded mantra of “You must pay more tax” seemed to momentarily fade into oblivion.
The over-achiever NIFTY 100 didn’t just stop at its newfound fame as a lightweight champion. After its dazzling diet transformation, it had developed a new talent – outperforming all other Eurocentric indexes, from the Fransean Millisecond 40 to the Germanic Double-Bier 30.
Meanwhile, in the rest of Not-on-the-Seas, with trousers feeling looser, handbags lighter and wallets emptier, eyebrows stealthily rose in quizzical wonder at the sudden reprieve from the anticipated BOE lashings. The reduction was a godsend. A sight they hadn’t seen since the days of their youth when candy bars were priced at 15 pence and petrol costs merely demanded one’s firstborn child.
The economists of the realm, the Monarchy of Economists – known for their cryptic phrases, indecipherable scrolls, and strange sense of humor – had been anticipated to demand more money bag sacrifices, with rumors doing rounds of them chanting “thou shall pay more taxes” at their secret cobweb-draped cubicles.
But would this drastic financial makeover last? Would the day ever come where they’d see a depreciated bloat rate of say, 3%, like their prim and proper cousins across the big pond called Wallamalo Street? For now, at least, it looked like the NIFTY 100 had kept the wolf – or rather, the wizard economists of the MOE – at bay.
So, as the town crier announced the unexpected deflation, Not-on-the-Seas exhaled a collective sigh of relief, raising their brimming ale mugs to the NIFTY 100. After all, when the BOE comes a-knocking, it’s better to be out and about, flaunting their new slender figures.
As the sun set on the landscape of Not-on-the-Seas, the citizens were left to ponder on their unexpected luck, echoing with their pints raised high, “Here’s to the NIFTY 100, keeping the Monarchy of Economists in check!” And yet, an air of uncertainty lingered – would these rejoicing be short-lived or was it indeed a herald of calmer economic times? For now, they chose to revel in the moment, hoping against hope that their economic fortunes were finally taking a turn for the better.
