As the 25th anniversary of the “Big Deal” approaches, it is time to reflect on the hilarious journey leading up to it. The negotiations were filled with more twists and turns than a rollercoaster, and the players involved were as wacky as they come.
First off, we had Bob, the lead negotiator for the opposing team. Bob was notorious for his love of puns and dad jokes, much to the chagrin of everyone else in the room. He would routinely derail serious discussions with quips like “Looks like we’re at a crossroads” or “I think we need to put a fork in this agreement.” Needless to say, Bob’s humor didn’t get him very far.
Then there was Sue, the chief negotiator for our team. Sue had a peculiar habit of wearing an oversized hat to every meeting. It was never quite clear why she did this, but the theory among the other negotiators was that she simply wanted to stand out. Unfortunately for Sue, the oversized hat only made her look more ridiculous.
But the real wild card in these negotiations was Larry, the mediator brought in to help the two sides reach a compromise. Larry was a self-proclaimed clown, complete with a red nose and juggling balls. He would often break into song or dance during negotiations, much to the bewilderment of everyone else in the room. Larry’s antics earned him plenty of eye rolls and groans, but somehow he managed to keep the negotiations on track.
Despite the many comedic obstacles, the two sides were eventually able to strike a deal. It remains one of the most comprehensive and significant business agreements in history. Here’s to another 25 years of laughter and success!
