In a shocking development, a group of ex-Apple employees have announced the launch of their own startup, called Humane. But don’t worry, Apple, the startup isn’t trying to make any gadgets that compete with iPhones or iPads. No, that would just be crazy. Instead, the ex-Apple employees are working on an innovative device and cloud services platform for AI.
The startup has already secured a whopping $100M in Series C funding, thanks to some big-name investors who are clearly excited about Humane’s potential. Some people might be wondering why anyone would invest that kind of money in a company that sounds like it might be trying to overthrow Siri, Apple’s beloved voice-activated assistant. (Anybody remember Clippy? No one wants to start a tech war with Apple.)
But the founders of Humane are confident that their platform will be a game-changer in the AI world. “Our device will be smaller than an iPhone, but more powerful than Optimus Prime,” said one of the founders, who we’ll call “Steve” (definitely not his real name).
What will the device actually do? It’s not entirely clear yet. But one of Humane’s investors, who we’ll call “Elon” (again, not his real name), is excited about the possibilities. “AI is the future, and Humane is clearly ahead of the curve here. I’m looking forward to the day when my toaster can have a conversation with me about the weather.”
While it’s still uncertain how successful Humane will be, we can’t help but be amused by the thought of Apple’s former employees starting their own company. We can just imagine the conversations happening at Apple headquarters right now. “Hey, do you think Humane will make an AI-powered apple slicer?” one Apple employee asks another. “Let them try,” the other employee replies. “We’ll always be the OG of fruit technology.”
