After narrowly escaping death in a mass shooting in Illinois, Tina Turner (not the famous singer) found herself facing a new foe: reporters. As she walked out of her hotel in Nashville, she was swarmed by a group of eager journalists, each clamoring for an exclusive interview.
“Well, well, well. Look who it is, the next big thing in the news,” Tina joked as she tried to make her way to her car. “I feel like I’m in a reality show or something.”
One reporter, who had been following her for blocks, asked, “Ms. Turner, can you tell us what happened in Illinois?”
“What happened? You mean besides the fact that I almost got shot?” Tina replied. “Seriously, you guys are like vultures.”
Another reporter chimed in, “Can you describe the shooter? Do you know what his motives were?”
Tina rolled her eyes. “Oh sure, let me just pull out my crystal ball and read the mind of a psychotic killer. Give me a break.”
But the reporters were relentless. They asked her about gun control, mental health, and even her own personal feelings about the tragedy. At one point, Tina threw her hands up in frustration.
“I don’t know, okay? I’m just a regular person trying to enjoy a vacation. Why don’t you go ask someone who actually knows something?”
As she made her final escape into the safety of her car, Tina couldn’t help but laugh at the absurdity of it all. “I swear,” she muttered under her breath. “If I see one more camera, I’m going to scream.”
