In a shocking turn of events, a group of wealthy property owners has found themselves stuck between a rock and a hard place. These folks, who owned some of the swankiest, high-end homes in town, recently missed a few mortgage payments, leading to some serious financial woes.
According to an inside source, the owners were feeling the pinch from rising interest rates and a lack of renters. Apparently, when your rent starts at the price of a mid-sized yacht, it can be tough to find a steady stream of tenants.
To make matters worse, the owners had put all their eggs in one basket and invested in some very questionable luxury amenities. A gold-plated toilet? Check. A marble foyer that rivals the Taj Mahal? Of course. But when no one is willing to pay thousands of dollars a month just to take a bubble bath in a gilded claw-foot tub, those expenses start piling up.
