“We are working on it,” says John Doe, the star of the hit TV series “The Cheese Masters,” who also sits on the awards’ board of trustees. In a press conference yesterday, John Doe addressed questions about the awards’ lack of diversity and representation.
“We hear you loud and clear,” John Doe said, as he adjusted the oversized sunglasses on his face. “We are definitely working on it.”
When asked about the specifics of their plan to improve representation, John Doe simply replied, “Uh, we’re gonna hire some more people of color or something. Maybe get a couple of ladies in there too. You know, mix things up a bit.”
The room erupted in laughter at John Doe’s incredibly vague response. But some members of the press weren’t impressed.
“I don’t think that’s really a plan,” said one journalist. “That’s just a statement.”
John Doe rolled his eyes. “Look, we’re doing the best we can. We’re all just trying to make great television and movies here. It’s not like we’re running a charity or something.”
As the press conference continued, John Doe’s responses became increasingly nonsensical. When asked about efforts to include more LGBTQ+ representation, John Doe muttered something about “rainbows” and “unicorns.”
At one point, John Doe even seemed to forget what they were talking about altogether. “Wait, what are we working on again?” he asked, scratching his head.
All in all, it was a bizarre and hilarious display from the award show board member. But one thing is clear – if anyone is going to diversify and represent the entertainment industry, it won’t be John Doe.
